Black and White Tootsie Paw

Dear Kindred Spirits and Gentle Readers:

A gentle memorial wag. November 11th in the United States is Veteran's Day. In Canada, it is called Remembrance Day. In Europe, Armistice Day. A very special wag out to all veterans and loved ones.

My mom's grandfather served in WWII (for Canada). Both Dachshund Daddy's grandfathers served in WWII (for Italy) and were prisoners of war (in Germany). My parent's grandfathers came home from the war. My parents remember their grandfathers with a great deal of fondness and love.

My mom also sends her very best to all her students who are veterans.

Thank you, all, for your service. Thank you, all, for your support of veterans around the world.

Let us never forget the cost of war.

Love,
Tootsie

  2. We too are remembering all the victims of war. WW2 veterans are fast diminishing in number. My own father clings on to life by a slender thread, and what remains of his memory is dominated by his wartime years as an RAF pilot, lived so intensely and then barely spoken of (by him) in the ensuing half century.
    Peace to all,
    Gail.

  3. Beautiful picture. Our Lady is the great granddaughter of 2 WW1 vets, the granddaughter of a WW2 vet, and the sister in law of a current member of the Canadian Military (who has served time in Afghanistan). This day is very important to us and we are glad it is very important to others as well.

Very beautiful thoughts. Wishing peace around the globe today and honoring those who graciously served.

  8. I love that photo!

My grandpa also served in WWII. He was stationed in Hawaii and my Grandma always told the story of the attack - how she was next door at a neighbors, could hear the bullets coming and had to run next door to her home under a hail of bullets to get to my uncle.
