Cassiar and Truffle

When something truly lovely is happening on the other continent, the world feels like a vast place. I had one of those missing moments when Mom got an email with this photograph attached.

This is a picture of my human cousin Cassiar taking my fur-brother Truffle on a walk in our northern Idaho woods.

Suddenly, I wanted to be there when we were here. Such times can be confusing for a little dog -- even a savvy sausage like me.

On the phone, Cassiar told Mom how much he loves visiting Grandpa in Idaho with his dad and brother. "We had a special Saturday walk with Truffle," said Cassiar, "and I held the leash the whole time."

And then his brother Aghi talked to Mom: "I love you." Mom's heart almost burst. The conversation healed our missing moment.

  1. What unusual names your human cousins have, Tootsie. I really like them!

Maybe they'll come visit you in Switzerland one day soon. I should know by now (but don't). Do you spend 6 months in each place? And are you in Idaho when you're in the States? I still think you're the luckiest doggie out there :)

    1. Ah, thank you, Ms. Georgia! And Mom keeps advocating for another room, so my human cousins can come visit for a long time when they are older!

Mom says she cannot even keep our schedule straight, and it's not straight-forward. Thank you for asking! Generally, we spend summer in Idaho and a month during winter in Idaho, and the rest of the time we spend in Switzerland. Recently, though, we've had a bunch of trips, which means Mom is all unsettled. And she's supposed to be learning Italian (southern Switzerland, so Italian language), but she's really bombing out on it. I speak more Italian than she does!

We hope your return from holidaycamp went very well!

      Love and wags,
      Tootsie

    2. Thank you! The Typist is such a sticky beak. I don't know much about Idaho but it sounds cold. That really is an exciting life you lead, Tootsie, and one my humans aspire to. Maybe more like following the sun :)

The trip home went well. The Typist managed to do some shopping and was very happy. We miss our sunrise over the ocean view from the bedroom!

      Hugs x

  7. Yes, we too think that the young humans should come to Switzerland. Gail says she'll never stop being grateful to her wonderful Swiss godmother who she stayed with so many times as a teenager and young adult, and who enriched her life beyond measure.
Personally, I would be a bit scared to meet one of those HUGE St Bernards!
