Dad was recently in Zurich for work. One afternoon, he decided he'd ride his bike to the Rhine Falls. As he cycled through the Hardwald forest, Dad met Lalzen, a gorgeous airedale from the town of Opfikon...
who apparently has a predilection for horse poop.
Dad pointed it out to Lalzen's Grandpa, who smiled and said: "It's OK. He loves organic food." Organic indeed!
Between Bassersdorf and Birchwil, Dad met Simmi, who sent me a doggy-gram...
because he's a really good dog.
On the way down into the Toess river valley, Dad encountered a group of llamas...
who told him to hurry up if he wanted to make it to the waterfall before dark.
Eventually, Dad made it to the Falls by sunset. Besides being the largest waterfall in Europe, the Rhine Falls was one of Dad's Grandma's favorite places, and Dad could feel her presence.
As he rode the last couple of miles into Schaffhausen after dark, Dad knew she was also there, riding her bike along the Rhine next to him. Somewhere in Heaven, I bet she has already shaken Tom-the-Cat's paw.
How wonderful for Dad to be able to feel his obviously much loved Grandma's presence.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I wonder if Lalzen likes sheep poop too? Another great organic food.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
What a gorgeous bike ride, and to make it with the strong memory of his Gran.
ReplyDeleteWe like horse 'apples' too.
XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
How great for your Dad to visit his Grandma's special place and feel her presence! Looks like he met lots of new friends along the way!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great ride. I am not sure about the organic food however. I have a few friends who live that organic life, but my MOM alaays say ewwwww, no.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Those waterfalls are really beautiful! And Simmi is just such a handsome dog. I bet it would be fun to chase those llamas, too, but Momma would start yelling at me if I did.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely ride your dad had, Tootsie! I particularly like his conversation with the llamas. I scavenge for cat poop sometimes but My Typist gets cross and flushes my mouth out. Isn't that ridiculous? It's organic and free. What more does she want?
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure you had!
ReplyDeleteI Misty love to eat organic rabbit poop but mom gets upset as apparently the rabbits around here can have parasites that can kill a dog. Huh, as if those delicious treats could do anything to a strong dachsy like me. I eat my kefir/yogurt and have a strong constitution doesn't she know...
ReplyDeleteUgh, well Bob loves goose pop and grass. What can you do
