Canine Coffee Concerns Continue

I have a concern. I know I have shared it with you before. Alas, my canine coffee concerns continue on the North American continent. What am I to do?

When I wrote my plea to you from Switzerland, I had collected all the coffee in our home as evidence. I haven't done that this time, but trust me, there's a lot more than these coffee bags gathered here. Just look how Mom runs the breadth of coffee: Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, and an indie label named Raven's Brew. Raven's Brew is the best. (Sometimes Mom just drinks any coffee brand because she is desperate. You see why my canine coffee concerns continue.)

And check out one Raven's Brew roast: Deadman's Reach. "Raises the dead!" Yikes. So don't tell me not to be concerned! Another brand called Bruin Blend has a grizzly picture on it. "Grin and Bear It"; is that what I'm supposed to do with my coffee concern?

The art is totally wotten waven and is designed by Ray Troll. When we were in Big Sur for the California portion of Mom's book tour, Mom got all excited to take this picture with the Raven's Brew sign at the new Big Sur Taphouse.

Guess what Mom had to drink inside? (Actually, she just reminded me that she drank a super yummy raspberry lemonade ginger ale. But that is no defense. Do I even need to tell you that Mom does not think she drinks too much coffee?)

We are great big fans of the fishy artist Ray Troll, and he designs the labels for Raven's Brew Roasters. I love Ray Troll's art! But I don't like my mom all shaky achy from drinking too much brew. I do like the Ray Troll "Da Vinci Cod" T-shirt that my dad wears. Wotten waven! And Mom said it is okay for me to include a rare photo of her here, wearing her favorite Ray Troll "MAD COW / HAPPY SALMON" T-shirt in Sicily last year. (By the way, the trip to Sicily was before I came on board.) Doesn't Mom look happy?

Back in Idaho, my canine coffee concerns were interrupted by this moose walking through the pasture. Mum sipped coffee from her favorite coffee mug, and we watched the moose through the window. I didn't even bark. (Um, yes, it is April, but that white ground is all snow!)

Love,
Tootsie

  1. Tootsie, I do not have an opinion on the matter of coffee, but I do know that Gail just bought a packet from the local supermarket labelled 'strength 5' (out of 5) and she is complaining it is too weak.....
Usually she buys her coffee freshly ground from a lovely little independent shop in Aberdeen called MacBeans!
Snow is forecast here for tomorrow!
Oh and I should mention that Gail enlarged the picture of your Mom in Sicily in order to get a close up view of, yes you've guessed it, the bike...

  2. Dear Tootsie,

My Typist says to tell you there is no such thing as drinking too much coffee. Now you know.

P.S. she wants to know what wotten waven is. Please excuse her, she's not too bright. Maybe those mugs of cheap instant coffee have killed her brain cells.

    Have a great week! x

    1. Ah, Sweet Georgia,

It's such a good question. Please tell your Typist that she is very bright, and we have not explained "wotten waven," but we will. In brief in our usage it means something beyond fantastic.

Right now, none of us are feeling wotten waven, because Tootsie wants you to know that she is not well. Mom has been up almost 24 hours, and Tootsie ate a human medicine she should not have eaten. We need prayers. We will post an update Tuesday, Pacific time zone, in the morning.

We know Georgia that you have come through a lot, so we are very grateful for your special doggy thoughts.

      Xox.

  4. Wow Dead Man's Roast, sounds tasty (according to Mom.) She is a coffee fiend too, mostly Starbucks but she also likes a fancy schmancy brooklyn brand called Stump Town

  5. SHE buys beans at a local coffee shop and has a morning cappuccino, so we don't know much about coffee. HER beans just come in a plastic bag....no artwork.

We'd love to see a moose.

  6. Wow, you did not bark at all at the moose? I would have been going wild!! I don't think my parents drink anything special, just regular old coffee...how boring!

  7. Coffee is a big deal around here too, but not so many different kinds. :)

  8. First of all, I love that art!!! I want the poster from the Raven coffee shop. So the coffee matter.... My mom recently switched to yerba mate from coffee. She is a tea drinker too. She says she feels better.

  9. Oh I too know the coffee woooow's. MOM loves her some coffee. But my MOM doesn't have any of the cool coffee that yours does. If it's brown, hot, and fresh she will pretty much drink it, except something called Yuba. She doesn't like that one much.

  10. Fortunately, my mom doesn't drink coffee AT ALL (she even hates the smell), so I don't have to worry about that. Is it time to stage an intervention?

  11. My mum LUVS your blog!!! She, too, is a coffee drinker (even though she is a limey!!!!)She had bought a Tassimo brewer, but had all sorts of problems, so took it back and bought a keurig -- she LUVS it -- says that the coffee tastes so much better. When she has to, she grinds her own coffee, but even that has gone by the wayside since getting her Keurig!!!!

  12. I think the coffee is OK as long as it isn't to excess. The most recent findings are that it is actually healthy. And drinking it while watching a moose, somehow I think that is even healthier.

  13. According to my understanding, your mum loves coffee sooo much! I can't blame her. I have that same feeling for my early afternoon coffee. I just love it... of course, I prefer instant to brewed.

    Loooooveee the moose break.

  16. Hi Y'all,

Unless you're my human aunt, coffee is part of being human!

Just stopped by to catch up on your happenings and say hello! Have a great week!

  19. Oh man....one of my moms drinks coffee like it's going out of style. The other drinks tea. Either way mama, coffee drinker mama, says coffee is good....coffee is wise. Whatever that means. We like to drink the tea. So if it makes mama yeagie happy drinking coffee, we will let that be. We don't like mama yeagie without coffee. She gets grumpy.

  20. Hey Buddy

After hearing of your concerns I think my Mum's consumption is mild - I know one thing though - I always like that she has one in the morning, cos I don't think there's any chance of us going for a run if she hasn't had it!!

    Have fun,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  21. Well, it's a while since I visited your blog (shame on me) and I'm glad I found time today - because I have a similar concern. My Two Legged Ones love the stuff. They tell me not to worry, that it's not an issue but I know better - I've seen how grumpy the Two Legged One gets if she doesn't have a latte (and a very strong one at that) by 10am on a Saturday morning! Good luck with trying to change the coffee habit!

    Woof.
